The Victoria College Drama Society is holding auditions for Useless Superhero Support Group, our submission to the University of Toronto Drama Festival.
Useless Superhero Support Group is a short play about what happens when people with a medium amount of power get a small amount of responsibility. Our six heroes meet in the basement of a community centre for weekly support meetings, each addicted to their boring superpowers. Gillon, the lowly social worker, struggles to keep the meeting in order – but body swapping bad boy Deacon and conspiracy theorist super hearer Val seem dedicated to making that difficult. The group’s muddled insecurities emerge when hero of the year Ultraman crashes their meeting for some venting of his own.
