Arsenic and Old Lace directed by Emily Dix

Written by Joseph Kesselring
Mortimer Brewster just can’t catch a break! How can he marry the woman he loves when he is related to two homicidal elderly aunts, a brother who believes he is Teddy Roosevelt, and another who looks like horror-film actor Boris Karloff thanks to plastic surgery performed by the alcoholic Dr. Einstein? Add in a dozen bodies and it’s all Mortimer can do to keep his family away from the local police. Made into a popular film of the same title in 1944 starring Cary Grant and Peter Lorre, “Arsenic and Old Lace” is a dark and witty play about what happens when a family’s skeletons-in-the-basement can’t be hidden any longer.

Arsenic and Old Lace plays for three performances from January 20th to the 22nd at 8 PM in the Isabel Bader Theatre (93 Charles St. W).
